Parish News
Permission for outdoor Masses
Diocesan Administrator Fr Peter Slater having gained further understanding on the phrase “outdoor religious gathering” received the welcomed news that, YES outdoor Masses are permitted, for up to 10 people, and, are to be celebrated adjacent to the Church – as long as Covid 19 directives are followed, concerning spacing, hygiene and personal contact.
This news will delight so many who have been waiting patiently for an opportunity to attend Mass again. Fr Edwin, myself and Deacon Jithin share our delight as well and advise these masses will commence immediately.
Parishioners are encouraged to phone and make your booking on Mondays or Fridays, speaking directly to parish secretary Clare O'Brien 51 444100 between the hours of 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Having your booking processed through one person means, should your preferred day be unavailable, Clare will advise you immediately and invite you to select an alternate day.
Our outdoor Masses will be each Tues, Weds, Thurs and Friday at 9.30am The altar will be located near the kitchen door entrance, with Chairs for 10 in place, meeting the social distancing requirements.
All are required to sign a form, sanitise hands, and masks are to be worn at all times.
When going to communion, communicants are asked to kindly observe
– required distancing is maintained in the queue
– Mask are to be worn.
– Sanitise hands at a dispensing station before coming to receive Holy Communion
– Engage in the dialogue and receive the Host in the hand, and to wear the mask.
– Step several meters to one side, and away from the priest.
– Remove one side of the mask to place the Host in your mouth with the other hand
– Reposition the mask.
– Return to your seat via a different pathway.
For practical reasons, if it's raining or excessively windy, there will be no public Mass on that day.
We are grateful to Fr Peter Slater for gaining this understanding and delighted you can join us for daily Mass.
Fr Edwin, Deacon Jithin and myself have longed for our coming together again around the table of the Lord. Welcome! It will be great to have your with us. God is good all the time!
Remember to look out for each other, a simple phone call, the delivery of the bulletin, a kindly word shared - means so much to the lonely and frightened among us.
With love and prayers for all
Dean Peter.
