Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
We warmly welcome all our students back to school and look forward to the remainder of the year. We thank families once again for their support throughout the Remote Schooling period to ensure learning continued for their children.
Student Leaders
It’s hard to believe, however, it is time for our Year Five students to consider nominating for the 2022 school leadership positions. Classroom teachers will be speaking to students and the School Leadership Policy will go home to Year Five families next week.
“You are capable and competent people, learners and leaders. You are made in God’s image and are deeply valued for who you are - in and for the world God desires. You have capabilities that you can use to help you live, learn and lead. Recognising and developing your capabilities enables you to be comfortable and confident in who you are, and ready to make a difference in our world” .
School Uniform
As we return to school, we ask that all children wear the correct school uniform.
It is important that we settle back into our routines and expectations, including the wearing of our school uniform.
Students are asked to wear their summer uniform this term.
For girls, this includes the summer dress, navy school jumper, white socks and black leather shoes. Hair is to be tied back neatly off the shoulder. Decorative jewellery and hair accessories can be enjoyed over the weekend and during school holidays. The school hat is to be worn outside.
For boys, this includes grey shorts, white short sleeved shirt, navy school jumper, grey socks and black leather shoes. Hair is to be tied back neatly off the shoulder. Likewise, decorative jewellery can be enjoyed over the weekend and during school holidays. The school hat is to be worn outside.
The school jacket is not a part of the summer uniform but can be worn on sports days with the sports uniform.
port uniforms are to be worn on sports days.
Sneakers are to be worn on sports days only.
Black socks and brand name socks are not a part of the St Thomas’ uniform.
Teachers will be reminding students to wear the correct uniform as we settle back into school.
School Closure Day Cancelled
As mentioned last week, we will not proceed with the closure day on Monday, November 2nd, 2021. The Melbourne Cup Day holiday will still take place.
Face Masks
Unless a lawful or medical exception applies, children in Years 3-6 are required to wear face masks indoors, at school. Families are asked to provide children with masks.
Although recommended for children in Foundation to Year 2, it is not a requirement.
Chromebooks
We ask that all chromebooks that were borrowed during Remote Schooling are returned with their chargers. Chromebooks need to be cleaned and returned to their respective classrooms. They will be used for a number of online assessments and daily classroom teaching. Thank you.
SION SITE UPDATE
Please know that there will be an opportunity for families to make a comment regarding the possibility of moving to the Sion Site.
It is anticipated that two surveys will be ready next week for release.
The first survey will be released to our St Thomas’ school community and the second will be released to the broader Sale community.
Feedback will be collated and used to inform decisions moving forward.
You are strongly encouraged to provide feedback.
Details of how to access the survey will be released early next week and there will be a two week window to complete the survey.
Enjoy your weekend.
The children have enjoyed the sunshine today.
Take care and God bless,
Anita and staff

2022 Wellington Shire Australia Day Awards
Nominations for the 2022 Wellington Shire Australia Day Awards are open.
We will promote the awards through our Council channels and the local media, however we thought we would extend the information to community groups like yours, if you wanted to promote them on your own social media or other methods, encouraging people to nominate.
We would love to nominate people from your own groups for these awards, who work hard for your community. We know that volunteers are the backbone of all our communities and we know there are many unsung heroes among you who simply don’t get any recognition.
Here is your chance to change to give those people the acknowledgement they deserve!
If you click on this link 2022 Aus Day Awards you should be able to access a package of materials including:
- Some social media tiles you can post to Facebook to promote the awards and encourage nominations
- Some example text you may like to use to explain what the awards are about and to encourage people to nominate
- Printable images you can use that have QR codes leading to the nomination form
We are seeking nominations for the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Group of the Year
- Covid Hero
You will find details about our awards, including the categories and previous winners on our website here Australia Day Awards (wellington.vic.gov.au)
Nominations for this year’s awards open today and close at the end of October. Traditionally we then have an Australia Day luncheon in the first week of December to announce and celebrate the winners. We are hoping to do that again this year, as long as Covid regulations allow.
Thank you for your support and we can’t wait to see all the nominations of Wellington residents doing great things in your community.
