Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
Firstly, we send our love and prayers to all our Year Three students and staff who are continuing with Remote Schooling and to their families. I thank everyone, families, teachers and support staff for their response to Sunday’s announcement and also appreciate your support, and understand the concerns and questions you may have in regard to the announcement. Both DOSCEL and the Gippsland Region Public Health Unit have worked with us to ensure the appropriate steps were taken to manage the confirmed case of COVID 19 and I sincerely thank them for their communications as they also navigate their way through an evolving and changing space of government and health guidelines and mandates. We continue to be supported by them.
As we manage this space, we remind families of the symptoms of COVID 19 and that all children or staff who present unwell at school will need to go home until symptoms are resolved.
Symptoms of COVID 19 include:
fever, chills or sweats, cough, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss or change in sense of smell or taste, headache, muscle soreness, stuffy nose, nausea; vomiting and diarrhoea may also be considered as symptoms.
COVID testing sites include the Wellington Respiratory Clinic based at behind the Inglis St Medical Centre and a new pop clinic has been set up at the GRSC, Gippsland Regional Sports Centre.
Unfortunately, our Year Five camp will not take place. We received news this morning that camps can go ahead but with exclusive use by one school only. Unfortunately, our camp proprietor informed us that they will not be able to accommodate our school, due another booking. In the past, we have shared facilities with another school, but we are not able to do so on this occasion.
We will also be confirming details for Year 6 and inform families of outcomes, next week.
With all that has been happening within our space and the wider community this week, please know that all children who have been able to return to school have enjoyed their first full week back onsite. We are delighted to have them back in classrooms learning with their friends.
The results of the Australian Maths Competition have returned and certificates will go home with students on Monday.
I had the pleasure of reading a number of letters written by our Foundation students yesterday and they will be going to our elderly citizens this week.
Our Year 5 students have started preparing their applications for 2022 leadership positions and have been discussing the nature of the various roles and the responsibilities associated with them. We look forward to reading their applications.
We are also currently organising staffing for the 2022 year and soon will be looking at year level structures.
We pray for each of our families, may they find strength in knowing God and in the comfort of their friends.
Enjoy your weekend. A reminder that Monday is a school day and the Cup Day holiday falls on Tuesday.
God Bless, Take care
