Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
Today, you will receive your child’s report. This will be provided to you digitally and you will be able to access it via the PAM platform.
As you are aware, this year has been another interrupted year and every effort has been made during the second semester to ascertain the progress and achievement levels of students. Through diagnostic assessments and ongoing observations and monitoring of student performance, teachers have gathered a range of work samples and anecdotal notes to make informed judgements about your child’s learning, respecting also what was demonstrated by your child during Remote Schooling in Term Three.
If you would like to discuss your child’s report, Parent/Teacher interviews have been scheduled for next week. These interviews are optional.
There is an opportunity for face to face interviews next Wednesday afternoon, December 15th between 3.40pm and 6pm. Furthermore, phone interviews have also been scheduled for Friday, December 17th, 2021 between 9am and 11am.
A reminder, that all parents wishing to attend the school for Parent/Teacher interviews will need to sign in using a QR code and provide evidence of being fully vaccinated unless an exemption applies. A visitor declaration form will also need to be completed upon arrival.
Acceptable vaccination evidence includes:
- A COVID-19 digital certificate using the Service Victoria app or Medicare app
- A COVID-19 digital certificate in a smart phone wallet
- A printed copy of COVID-19 digital certificate, immunisation history statement with evidence of vaccinations or a COVID-19 digital certificate with evidence of medical exemption.
These requirements ensure that the school practices are aligned with health advice from the Australian and Victorian governments to limit the spread of COVID-19.
If you are unable to meet these requirements or are unavailable to participate in face to face interviews on Wednesday afternoon, there is another opportunity to speak with teachers via phone interviews on December 17th, 2021.
Junior Athletics Carnival
As you are aware, the carnival has been postponed to Monday, December 13th and will take place between 11.15am and 1.15pm. Details regarding the event have been sent home to families with the updated schedule of events.
Graduation
This event has been scheduled for Tuesday December 14th, 2021 and will begin with a family picnic, followed by Mass and the Graduation ceremony. If you have not completed the online google form, could you please do so by Monday, so that we have an indication of numbers attending. Further information regarding Graduation will be sent home to Year 6 families on Monday.
Teachers for 2022
Please find teachers listed for 2022 below. We are still seeking a teacher to fill a two day position in the Year 5 classroom with Mr Tony Capurso and will notify families as soon as this position is filled.
We will be saying farewell to Madeleine Glenane and thank her sincerely for her contribution to our school community. We wish her the very best as she moves closer to her new home and takes on a part time teaching position elsewhere.
Jake Watson will also be leaving us for the new year and has taken leave for 2022. He has accepted a position at a local secondary school. He is keen to broaden his skills and we support him with his decision to take up a new challenge.
As you are aware Kristy Glover and Monique Pasfield are currently on parental leave.
A full list of roles and responsibilities for all staff will be shared in next week’s newsletter.

Grade 6 Social Justice Team
Can Drive and A Better Life For Foster Kids
A reminder that this term the Grade 6s will be running two Social Justice activities. We hope that our school community will get behind us and support these two initiatives.
St Vinnies Can Drive
We are asking for donations of canned food that we will give to St Vinnies for people in need. Each class has a basket in their classrooms for donated food items. This will be running until the last week of school.
A Better Life for Foster Kids
We are also collecting donated items for ‘A Better Life for Foster Kids’. This is a Gippsland-based charity that supports children and carers in the out-of-home-care system. Some items that could be donated may include clothing, toiletries, baby supplies, activity books, blankets and toys.
The Grade 6 students will also collect these items up until the end of term.
Junior Athletics Carnival - Monday 13th December
Junior Athletics Carnival - Monday 13th December
The junior athletics carnival will be held on Monday 13th December at St Thomas PS. The junior athletics carnival is based on fun and participation. Students will have the opportunity to compete in traditional track and field events, some of which will be in a modified setting. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours on the day, and are asked to carry their hats and drink bottles with them. An email has been sent to families with further information and a program.
