Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to the start of the new term!
I would like to congratulate all our families for their efforts and enthusiasm with Remote Schooling. We begin a very new way of operating in what are anxious times for many within our own school community and the wider community. Please know that staff are here to support you in whatever way they can and welcome your emails and communications. Please ensure that you regularly check your school App for all updates. All Edsmart Broadcasts are accompanied by an email notification.
Thank you to families who have shared photos with us for this week's newsletter and thank you also to families who are sharing video clips and photos of their children learning at home. I am regularly checking in with staff and have heard some wonderful stories and had some creative items shared with me as well.
Please remember you are not expected to be teachers, but we do ask you to do the best you can to deliver what has been planned for your child or children. Each family will have their own way of operating and it is important that what you do, works for you and your family. At times, your children will be engaged in their tasks and at other times, they will lack motivation. Take a break, breathe, relax!
What is important is that our children feel safe and loved during this time of change and uncertainty. Resilience will need to come into play as we are called to do things differently.
We can only ask each one of us to do our best and the feedback I am receiving from staff and hearing from parents is that we are all trying our best. So well done to everyone for such a positive start and effort.
HANDY HINTS:
- Choose a time or times that work well for you and your family.
- Create a routine that works for you and your child.
- Be organised for the learning task at hand. Have we got the things we need to begin our learning?
- Make sure you have break times.
- Learn from the opportunities that present themselves during the day in everyday life.
- Take time to laugh and have fun.
- Take time to listen and ask questions of your child and vice versa.
- Sharing a story, idea, instruction and organising our thoughts to deliver our message in such a way that is understood is learning.
- Praise your child for their efforts.
- Communicate with your child’s teacher. They will be calling you at least once a week and will be available to answer emails throughout the day. They can provide you with direction and be a listening ear.
Anita and Staff
We have had some great photos sent in from families showing some of our students in their remote schooling spaces. We would love to share more next week. If you'd like to send in a photo please send it to reception@sttsale.catholic.edu.au
While our students were starting their first day of remote schooling, Ethan was having some surgery. Ethan was very brave and is recovering well and looking forward to getting home. Mindy Monck would like to thank everyone for their support.
