Our school is a place of faith and learning
Dear Parents and Families,
As we enter the second week of Remote Schooling, I would like to thank our families for their continued support. Our current context truly requires us to all work together to ensure the best outcomes for our children. Please know that our teachers are available to respond to your emails and will call families at least once a week to see how families are managing and responding to Remote Schooling. If teachers are unable to reach you, they will try again.
Please know that teachers are not available to read or answer emails over the weekend. They are available between 8.55am and 3.15pm, school hours, to respond to your emails. Please do allow a 48hr response time, however, I am sure you are finding that teachers are responding during the day as soon as possible or acknowledging they have received your communication.
We remind families that if their financial circumstances have changed or have been impacted due to COVID19, please contact the school and we can outline the current supports available during Term Two 2020.
At present, we have not been informed of when Remote Schooling will come to an end or whether it will be extended. Hopefully, we will receive notification within the next fortnight.
This Saturday, we celebrate Anzac Day. We pray for all our veterans and their families and for all soldiers engaged in war or peace keeping efforts across the world. May the peace of Christ be with them all.
We are currently considering how we will manage our Open Days and enrolments for 2021.
We are proposing that Enrolments will open during this term and Open Days will be held later in the year. Enrolment documentation is currently being updated and all families and Kindergartens will be notified when forms are available.
Know that all staff are thinking of their families and look forward to children returning to school at an appropriate time.
We thank you once again for the photos we are receiving. Please keep sending them as it gives families something to look forward to at the end of a school week. We hope you enjoy the photos included in today’s newsletter.
Please take care and stay safe.

School fees are an essential portion of resources for the operation of our school and assist our leaders and staff to enhance curriculum and teaching programs. Therefore, we are asking, for those who can, to continue to support the school financially.
Thank you for your continued support of our St Thomas’ Catholic Primary School community. Your support will enable us to continue to provide quality learning opportunities and strong pastoral programs for all our students.
This week we have some more great photos sent in from families and teachers showing some of our students in their remote schooling spaces and some of the work the students are doing. There are also some photos of school staff working from home. We would love to share more next week. If you'd like to send in a photo please send it to reception@sttsale.catholic.edu.au
Grade 4's looked at The Witches this week by Roald Dahl and did some visualising of what they think the terrifying witch looked like. They then wrote about a personal connection they had to a time where they saw something so scary and frightening, that they could not look away. Here are some examples of their great work.

Wellington Shire Council has established a new Click and Deliver library service to assist the community with reading material and other resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While uptake of the online resources available through Wellington libraries has been strong, some patrons were missing the feeling of reading a physical book and others didn’t have internet access.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall said library staff had put considerable work into establishing the Click and Deliver service, abiding by all current COVID-19 restrictions and health advice.
“We understand how important our local library services are to many in our Wellington communities and we expect the Click and Deliver service to be popular,” he said.
“Feedback already from those who have received a delivery of books from their local librarian has been fantastic.
“It is a very simple process for the library member to navigate, they just need to phone their local library or place an On Hold request through the online catalogue.
“Library staff will then make contact to organise a mutually convenient time to deliver the books or other resources such as DVDs, magazines and the like – it’s that easy.”
Cr Hall said like many other organisations, Wellington Shire Council had to become innovative about how it continued to provide services to the community during the pandemic.
“Thank-you to all our Wellington residents who have heeded the Chief Health Officer’s warning to stay at home during this time and we are pleased Wellington Shire Council has been able to provide a delivery service so you can stay connected with your local libraries.”
